Struggling to Hire? 6 Places To Find New Employees

Most member businesses state that finding good technicians is a problem. That is why the NHADA Foundation's mission is to attract, educate, and retain employees of the automotive workforce through continuous industry promotion and financial support.  With the strong relationships we have forged with NH’s Community College System and Career and Technical Education Centers (CTEs), we can help you find qualified technicians for your business. By working together, we can grow a sustainable and viable workforce.

We have developed six key opportunities that you can take advantage of to move forward toward obtaining your workforce development goals.

1.) Sign Up Your Business on the NHADA Foundation Job Board

2.) Participate in College & Career Day 2022

3.) Join an Advisory Board

4.) Utilize the Job Training Grant

5.) Consider an Apprenticeship

6.) Visit an Auto Class

1.) Sign Up Your Business on the NHADA Foundation Job Board

List your business on the Job Board and get connected with students who are looking to start or advance their career in automotive.
How it works:

  • Students who sign up for NHADA's Fast Track (launching this Fall) will gain access to many resources and tools, including the Foundation Job Board.
  • If you are a featured business, you will pop up in their search and they can send you their resume and contact you regarding employment or a co-op.

2.) Participate in College & Career Day 2022

Over 800 high school students from all over NH gather at Manchester Community College to engage with college and industry representatives. Colleges and businesses can set up vehicle displays and interactive activities as well as participate in the industry panel and advanced technology lab. The main purpose of College & Career Day is to educate and inform students about the different paths and opportunities available to them in the automotive field. If you want to take advantage of this great opportunity to meet your future workforce, Reserve Your Spot Now!

3.) Join an Advisory Board

Advisory Boards provide information, counsel, and recommendations to the high school and college automotive programs. Serving on an advisory board gives industry members an inside look into what is going on in automotive classrooms across NH and provides opportunities to advise and influence program growth and improvement. This is also a great chance for businesses to connect with students who may become interns or employees. Involvement in advisory committees is an essential first step to your workforce development.

5.) Consider an Apprenticeship

Why Apprenticeship?

  • Businesses that use registered apprenticeship programs reduce worker turnover because of greater employee loyalty, increased productivity, and an improved bottom line.
  • You get to train to your business standards and culture.
  • You gain access to a more diverse talent pool.
  • It can help to establish and promote community partnerships.
  • Even your current employees are eligible to enroll!

6.) Visit an Automotive Class

Join Kate in the classroom and spend some time with students at the high school or college level. Speak to them about career opportunities in the automotive field, provide authentic insight and expectations, and bring a vehicle for the students to check out with you. You could even give a guest lesson in the shop. This will help improve their level of engagement with the automotive field and when they are ready to take that first step towards their career, you will be the first person they call!

Once you've started increasing your workforce development presence you'll find the benefits two-fold. The effort you put forth to help your business also helps the future of the automotive field itself!
